OBJECTIVE To analyze the trend of infections and the antibiotic resistance of Acinetobacter baurnannii. METHODS By making an assay of total strains of A. baurnannii and their antibiotic resistance from all the patients in Union Hospital from the years of 2002 to 2005. RESULTS A total of 173 strains of A. baumannii were isolated in last four years, which mainly come from the sputum sample of patients. In the distribution of hospital departments, intensive care unit (ICU) was the most. The antibiotic resistance rate of A. baumannii, showed from the data, was generally high and increased by years. CONCLUSIONS We emphasize that clinicians need to be taken seriously to pathogen monitoring. Bacterial culture and early treatment are quite important. Attention should also be paid to regulating the use of antibiotics, standardizaing the medical staff of hand washing, and disinfecting to prevent the emergence and spread of drug-resistant strains. |
