초록 | PET-CT represents an hybrid imaging modality which combines the excellent resolution of computed tomography (CT) with functional image data derived from PET. CT data are used to correlate functional PET data with anatomical CT data with; additionally CT data is used to perform an attenuation correction for the PET acquisition to improve PET information. Simultaneous performed PET/CT imaging allows an improved diagnostic accuracy especially in oncological disease. Especially in CT imaging multiple image artifacts are known, which are just a minor problem in radiology because of their apparent and already known character. Combining CT with PET imaging these artifacts can cause consecutive severe PET artifacts. In the following manuscript the basic principles of CT artifacts are explained. There will be a special focus on breathing artifacts as well as beam hardening artifacts in CT. Based on this knowledge the influence of CT artifacts on PET/CT imaging is explained. Additionally, we try to make some solutions and tips to reduce or compensate these artifacts in PET/CT. |
