The purpose of this study is to design a media acceptance learning activity for Korean language learners to foster their critical language awareness. In particular, we sought to compose a learning activity from an ecological perspective that focuses on ecological topics that are suitable for the application of critical language awareness. To this end, it conceptualizes critical language awareness from an ecological perspective in order to understand the aimed-at competencies through ecological learning activities aimed to cultivate critical language awareness. More concretely, it confirms the relationship between critical language awareness and ecological topics and looks carefully at sustainability literacy in ecolinguistics to specify the nature of critical language awareness from an ecological perspective. After this, students make ecolinguistic critiques of the movie Okja. Through this process of critique, the elements of the content of the learning activity involving Okja could be set. On a basis of these content elements, this study designed a learning activity for Okja for critical language awareness. The chain of argumentation in this study serves to suggest an authentic educational method for critical language awareness, whose meaning lies in inducing Korean language learners to be come aware of the world through language. |
