초록 With advents of WTO, and FTA, trade barriers and restrictions are being dismantled, and currently, nations are developing strategies for competitive edge in exporting sea food, and are establishing food safety and hygiene standards for seafood consumption. With improvements in family incomes and quality of dietary habits, there has been increase in purchase of fresh and superior quality sea food in Korea as well. In July 2013, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has developed comprehensive plans to reduce of sea food distribution cost, and to improve sea food freshness by streamlining distribution process. Subsequently, on September 2014, the Ministry has issued the statement for seafood processing industry advancement. These recent strategies are designed to refine safety and hygiene of sea foods, as well as networks of distribution system. With enhancements of these features, the quality and the value of the seafood will be increased along with the consumer confidence index. Subsequently, it is reasonable to expect expansions of sea food consumption and exportation. This research focuses on the production of environmentally friendly sea food containers which is one of the first steps in the grand design. The goal of the research is to resolve problems being faced by current sea food containers, and to upgrade from current containers, and to establish basic guidelines and designs for reusable or recyclable sea food containers with the ultimate goal of improving sea food hygiene and safety, as well as the distribution streamlining. With cursory glance, the development of environmentally friendly sea food containers may be inconsequential and trivial. However, it is the first major step in actualization of Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries policy of advancing sea food processing. The environmentally friendly sea food container development reflects the crucial step in sea food hygiene management and food safety. We, all, hope for the growth of domestic sea food industry into world market with combined efforts of various supportive industries and to create highly valued market for us, all.
